MINIFRC: SPECIAL EDITION DETAILS

MiniFRC is a scaled down version of this year’s First Robotics Competition game, Charged Up. Special Edition is for participants who need accommodations to participate in STEM. Students will learn the “how” from volunteers and will build a small-scale robot that will compete in a smaller version of Charged Up. Current FRC students will teach these skills, with mentors and volunteers providing assistance if needed. This event is catered specifically towards students with disabilities defined under a 504/ IEP. The Game Manual will have all the components and rules of the game. 

Dates: July 13th-15th, 2023 

Location: IBM Building 500: Room G104 and L104 (map with parking will be sent out before MiniFRC begins). 

Caretakers: Will NOT be provided, participants must bring their own if needed. 

Materials Used (of potential injury): Hot glue guns. Volunteers will supervise and assist if necessary. 

Pricing: Free

Who is Eligible? Grades 6-12, anyone with a disability defined under a 504 and/or an IEP. Loosely using the Special Olympics and Miracle League definition of eligibility, MiniFRC: SE serves children with any physical or mental disability that causes them to be given less opportunity, intentionally or not, in STEM. Physical or mental disabilities include intellectual or developmental disability.
